Molecular formula: HO-[-CH2CH2CH2CH2O-]n-H
Polytetrahydrofuran (PTMEG) is mainly used as the soft segment of block polyurethane or block polyether polyester.
Segmented polyurethane rubber made from PTMGE with an average molecular weight of 1000 can be used as tires, transmission belts, gaskets, etc.; it can also be used in coatings, artificial leather, films, etc. The block polyether polyester produced is a thermoplastic elastomer.
PTMEG with an average molecular weight of 2000 can be used to make polyurethane elastic fibers.
In recent years, it has been discovered that block polyurethane made of PTMEG has good anticoagulant properties and can be used as a medical polymer material.
